ah, bugger. i just learned of the june 15th passing of stan winston, one of the most accomplished and highly-regarded special effects designers in film history.
i'm sure some of you would recognize his work from great films like the monster squad, galaxy quest, big fish, iron man, the thing, edward scissorhands, terminator 2: judgement day, jurassic park, aliens, predator, batman returns, indiana jones and the kingdom of the crystal skull, and many, many more.
