dreamflash
had this crazy dream last night, and it all came back to me when i finished that last entry.

some co-workers and i were all working on this film with some associates of theirs. there were quite a lot of people involved, and as everyone was sort of bringing in people from their circles, so to speak, there were a few groups coming together that otherwise wouldn't have been coming in contact with eachother. my group of friends and i could sort of sense a general feeling of un-ease coming from one of the cliques.

one of my coworkers, we'll call him jayce, was there, and he's a very "fabulous"-type gay. cool dude. well, while one of the scenes was being shot, he was supposed to move one of the lights, for some sort of effect. someone bumped into him, the rig fell apart, and the bulb broke when it hit the floor. everyone on hand was sort of frustrated, as we really didn't have a lot of lights on hand, and time was short, etc. well, while most of us brushed it off, the one group that we were getting the bad vibes from started scoffing and making some "limp wrist" sort of gestures, and mumbling epithets to eachother, between their jockish chortles.

well, everyone broke for lunch, and while our little circle gathered, no one really spoke a whole lot. we weren't damning jayce, we just didn't know what to say, or how to react to what'd gone on. well, apparently. we'd been filming for a while, and one of us got the idea to check to see if payroll was available, as we were apparently getting paid on a regular basis, maybe even daily.

we all got our checks, and sat back down in our area. jayce opened his check, and seemed really disturbed. while the rest of us got paid our usual amount, his was totally cut, and he actually got a bill for a new light. somehow, in the dream, i knew that the light wasn't even that expensive, and that he still should have gotten a major portion of his check. just then, the rude crew group noticed our growing confusion, and made some sort of "thats what you get, faggot!" comment at us, from across the lot, in front of everyone. no one seemed to object, either.

i just remember being really hurt by what they said, and when i woke up, i was really bothered by it, even though i knew it hadn't actually happened. i guess it's because it's not all that far-fetched. sad.
