coast to coast am... WITH JESUS...
so, there's this radio show called coast to coast am. you may be familair with it. i don't actually listen to it as it airs. i often download the episodes the following day if the episode summary strikes my fancy.
unfortunately, a lot of the callers and i think both of the regular hosts, are believers in god/christ. this often leads to stupid exchanges with callers like this:
c: ...and you know, when i got home, the image of a bird was inbetween the panes of glass in my window! that same bird i'd seen!
h: you know who put that there, right?
c: OF COURSE! IT WAS THE JEEBUS!
wtf? i mean, a good amount of the subject matter discussed on the show is bound to be horseshit, of course, but these seem like especially illogical suppositions. the callers are fuckin' retarded from time-to-time, as well. someone will come on the show to talk about "guardian angels", and when they don't start spouting about god/christ, the callers will chime in and ask questions like "how can your guest suggest that we have guardian angels when he doesn't seem to be connecting this to our lord and savior?!"
it's like - uhm, dude... just because you believe that the concept of angelic beings is connected to a higher power or creator, doesn't mean that this dictates the beliefs of others. one could even say that, perhaps, "angels" are real, and have been watching over us for thousands of years, and that we've invented the rest of what goes along with it ourselves. or, hey - fuck, perhaps the guest is using the word "angel" as shorthand to communicate a concept?
that reminds me of the whole "if there's a satan, there has to be a god"-type of argument. frankly, who the fuck actually believes in satan without believing in god, anyway? who rebels against something they don't believe in? personally, i rebel against the people who follow that which i don't believe in, ya' dig?
eh.
i had a rant in me, apparently. sorry.
