d-d-d-demons!
alright, i had to take a break from watching demons 2, because something is bugging me...
one of the characters, upon investigating a strange scratching noise, goes to her front door and lets her dog in. "i forgot i'd let you out!", she says. okay, that sounds normal, right? is it normal to let your dog out when you live in a large apartment complex?! are we to imagine that this dog has just been wandering the hallways, possibly traveling between floors by elevator, this whole time she's left him out? wtf?!
this movie is '80s-tastic, though. also, a few of the actors from the first film are back, playing different roles. the leader of the coked-up punks is now the security officer in the lobby, and the jive-talking pimp from the first film is instead the tough-love trainer in the gym. weird. they should have gone the return of the living dead 2 route, and had them make some sort of deja-vu comment. speaking of been-here-seen-that, the "movie within a movie" device from the first film is in full-effect here. there was actually one scene, the first one where we see sally's parents out on the town, that looked like the crew used the lighting and cameras from the "within a movie" set-ups, because it doesn't look like it belongs to the over-arching storyline, although subsequent scenes of the parents wandering around the plaza look like they ought to.
oh, anyone who had he-man toys when they were growing up will recognize a close-up on a playset right around the 48:20 mark. niiiice.
