for whatever reason, i didn't dress up for halloween last year, and really, i haven't done so too many times in the last 10 years or so. year before last i was the plaidboy zombie from dawn of the dead, thanks to a cheap, but official costume-in-a-bag joint from the folks at rubies.

(oddly, i can't find an accurate picture of this costume online. the one i linked to there shows a face mask, while the kit actually includes an over-the-head half-mask...)

this year, i plan on getting a decent mask(s), but i don't want to really talk about it too much, because i might somehow jinx myself. let's just say that instead of picking a character that's been very popular this past season, i'll be picking a classic who's going to be making his screen return this coming february...
just got back from the grocery store a little while ago. i picked up these awesome newman's own organics champion chip cookies. i usually don't like dry cookies (or "biscuits", if you will...), but these are really tasty.

i almost the espresso chocolate chip, and then i shot chocolate chocolate chip a glare before settling on orange chocolate chip. before you say that sounds like a strange flavor combo - guess what they taste like...

yeah. take that, pepperidge farms. i dunno how these compare, price-wise, but there are certainly a few reasons that one might consider buying the newman's own brand over pepperidge farms, among those being that their cookies contain palm fruit oil, the organization is exceptionally charitable, and that the chocolate they use is certified (somehow) to be procured from slavery-free sources in south america.

while i'm on vacation, i'm trying to hit a few spots here that sell used dvds. i usually find some sort of crazy gem that's long been out of print. today i hit blockbuster and found some goodies. they happened to be running a 4 for $20 sale. i'd wanted to pick up hot fuzz for a while, but i couldn't justify paying full price for a film i've seen half a dozen times, so that was a good pick for me. next was eastern promises. the other day i was at hollywood video and i saw this, and for some reason, i kept thinking it was a history of violence, so i didn't end up buying it. also, i grabbed something called samurai fiction, without having ever heard of it. i was mostly interested because it was filmed in black & white, despite only being a few years old. last, and certainly not least, i just had to pick up the dentist. i'd never seen it, but i'm fond of the work of the people involved, and i've seen some of the trailers.

<lj-embed id="26" />

(anyone with a fear of dentist and dental work is going to want to skip that trailer. i'm looking at you, jesse...)
